Grecale is a collection I made during the accessory design II class, the brief asked to make a collection for Versace but with a personal point of view. I decided to be inspired by the wind "Grecale", which is a Mediterranean wind that can occur during times when a low-pressure area moves through the area to the south of Malta and causes a strong, cool, northeasterly wind to affect the island. It also affects other islands of the Western Mediterranean. The italian name "Grecale" could be translated as Greek wind, as the wind starts at the Ionian Island Zakynthos.
This pattern is inspired by different decorative illustration from different period of time, such as pompeian, roman, liberty and abstract art movement. Versace, as a brand, made iconic pattern used for its garments and accessories. Also, in this case, this illustration could be used repeated on a printed fabric and then cutted in a way that allow to make each piece unique and different.
This is a minibag collection that allows the wearer to decide every time a new combination of bags to bring with them. The materials used are: prined fabric such as cotton canvas, cow leather and contrasting piping.
Thank you for looking at my project!
